Advertised position – Lead, Digital Marketing
Interviewer: “I want my company to be everywhere online especially on Facebook just like (mentions competition name).”
Me: “That is not impossible. With the right content to engage our audience and a decent marketing spend we can achieve that and even surpass competition.”
Interviewer: “Why must we spend money? I don’t think our competitors are spending anything. Look at their vox pop content. It is awesome and goes viral. That is where they get their followers from. Why can’t we do something like that.”
Me: “ Creating nice content is not a problem, however, aside content, I know for a fact that your competition spends an average of 10k USD weekly on online ads alone. Are you prepared to budget at least half of that for online campaigns?”
Interviewer: **dazed** “Really!! Ah, I don’t think we can afford that. Me: “Well…I think you are speaking with the wrong candidate. Have a great day sir!”
Morals: Digital Marketing is not magic.
